Sioux City Wastewater Treatment Program
The Sioux City Wastewater Treatment Facility was flaring all biogas produced from its digesters during the process of treating wastewater biosolids from four neighboring communities. There was a lot of potential for a more profitable, renewable alternative.
Bartlett & West helped the City design digester improvements and biogas upgrading facilities, collaborating on ways to maximize biogas production and beneficial reuse. This led to Bartlett & West’s selection as Sioux City’s wastewater treatment program manager, which entailed leading teams of consultants and individuals in designing several improvement projects for the City.
Sioux City, Iowa is on the leading edge of a concept that promotes a healthier environment and provides a revenue stream to help finance other improvements to the wastewater treatment plant.
