Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have 401(k)? What is the company match?
Yes, in addition to the Employee Stock Ownership Plan, Bartlett & West has a 401(k) plan. The company will contribute a 25% matching contribution up to an employee-owner’s 6% deferral. This is immediately 100% vested. When you combine our ESOP and 401(k) benefit, you are likely to achieve the target of retirement saving that financial advisors recommend.

Can you explain the ESOP?
Bartlett & West’s Employee Stock Ownership Plan allows you to have ownership in our company and helps you save for retirement. Contributions are made annually by the company based on our business performance which are used to buy shares in the company.  Vesting in this plan is over a six-year period. Enrollment is automatic after performing one hour of work. You are eligible for a contribution each year you work at least 500 hours (and employed on Dec. 31).   

How much vacation and sick time do employees receive, and how does it work?
Employee-owners start with three weeks of vacation time, and you get all your vacation time for the year on Jan. 1. For sick leave, employee-owners get six days a year. Mental health days are included in sick leave.

What type of medical plan do you offer?
We offer both a traditional PPO (preferred provider organization) and high deductible health plan.

Who is our medical provider?
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas.

Do you offer insurance benefits besides medical?
Yes, we offer dental, vision, life insurance, disability, accident, and critical illness coverages.

When would my insurance coverages start?
Employees hired to work at least 30 hours per week are eligible for coverage the first day of the month following 30 days of employment.

Do you have tuition reimbursement?
Financial aid may be available for education related to employment at Bartlett & West, subject to manager and Human Resources approval. Upon successful completion of the course, the employee will be reimbursed 75% of the tuition, up to $5,000 per year.
