Project Detail

Wanamaker Road Corridor Traffic Study

Total Cost
$15 million
Date Completed
State
Kansas

Challenge

The busy Wanamaker Road corridor in southwest Topeka was becoming congested, resulting in poor travel times, traffic back-ups and safety concerns along the corridor and surrounding street network.

In addition, proposed development in the area would expand the issues.

Solution

Bartlett & West collected traffic and signalization data, worked with the Kansas Department of Transportation for integration of the data into the City’s 2040 MPO traffic model, and evaluated future conditions using the Synchro traffic modeling software. Bartlett & West then utilized that data to reconfigure the Wanamaker Road corridor through a series of six improvement projects.

Value

The Wanamaker Road corridor is now able to accommodate the anticipated 2040 traffic volume.
