NDDOT Highway Grade Raise

Total Cost
$11.55 million
Date Completed
North Dakota

Highway 20 needed an emergency grade raise to stay above the surface of rising flood waters.

Work included materials testing and compliance with the North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) specification book. The grade raise was imperative to keep the roadway above the surface of rising flood waters. The scope of this emergency grade raise project included the design and preparation of construction documents to keep the roadway traversable to the public. The roadway was raised and widened to reestablish the clear zone. Additionally, riprap was placed to prevent any additional erosion.

Bartlett & West delivered a rapid, thorough and thoughtful response that addressed the emergency of floodwaters in a high-traffic area. Work was completed quickly with minimal obstruction to necessary travel.
