Challenge

The Port of Port Arthur serves an important role in the supply chain needs of Texas, the U.S. and abroad. They were looking to obtain engineering services for the design of a new tracks, the partial realignment of existing track and additional paved storage areas within a compressed project schedule.

Solution

The Port of Port Arthur selected Bartlett & West to provide engineering services. The delivered design allows for the subsequent construction of new stabilized track subgrade for new ballasted tracks, modifications to existing storm sewer, additional stabilized road base, expansion of drainage inlets and the installation of improved base materials, hot mix asphalt pavement up to and including the rail tracks.

Value

The new track construction adds efficiencies for service from KCS Railroad in addition to helping the Port of Port Arthur with its internal rail car movements, paved storage areas for distribution of materials coming into the area and for shipping out of the area as well.
